Pruning a lemon tree professionally When young, a lemon tree should be pruned twice a year, and later only once, in spring. Older plants should only be pruned every 2-3 years, when the shoots have not yet started to develop.
The root crown of an older lemon tree should be cut back to 3-4 cm when transplanting. At the same time, the crown can be pruned to maintain a balance between the roots and the foliage. A lemon tree will produce flowers on the third or fourth branch.
Planting lemon seeds as houseplants
A small plant that has sprouted from a lemon tree can be planted as a room plant, as it has very beautiful green foliage. We can’t expect a crop in this form (as it has to be grafted), but its fresh green foliage is truly a wonderful sight. The cultivation works the same way with orange, tangerine and grapefruit seeds, so it’s worth trying these seeds too.
